Muhannad Al Kalbani is an adjunct research fellow/lecturer at the University of Queensland with a PhD in carbon geostorage and a background in chemical engineering and upstream oil and gas. His research focuses on enhancing in-situ CO₂ mineralisation in mafic and ultramafic deposits. Beyond academia, he collaborates externally on emission calculations and developing decarbonisation roadmaps across key sectors, including energy, industrial processes, agriculture, and waste management. He is also VP for Net Zero Excellence at the Oman Net Zero Center focusing on policies, regulations, and finance related to net zero as well as mitigation-related decarbonization projects across all sectors.
